Because it needs to transmit force, one of the rings of the slewing bearing is usually equipped with teeth. Since slewing bearing the materials used for most of the mechanical applications aren’t usually core-hardened, an induction hardening heat treatment is applied in order to improve the mechanical proprieties of the raceways and in that way, to increase the static and dynamic capacity of the bearing. This treatment guarantees a material hardness equivalent to the value of the rolling elements, up to a certain depth of the contact surface.
